How to do a Soccer Throw in
Learn how to do a throw in, soccer throw in or soccer throw in this soccer training video.
This Online Soccer Academy soccer coaching video is a kids soccer drills video geared for soccer players ages 5-8 and their soccer coaches. This is one of many youth soccer drills that will help teach young players and coaches information about soccer. This throw in video of course be applied to players of all ages.
The throw in in soccer is used when the ball goes out of bounds on the sidelines of the soccer field. The player taking the throw in can throw the ball in any direction on the field.
Key Points and Throw In Rules:
1. Use Two Hands
2. Ball must come from straight behind your Head
3. Both feet must remain on the ground
Exercise Player Can Do:
Practice the thrown in by throwing the ball back and fourth with a partner or up against a fence. Repeat until comfortable.
If you are a coach watching this a fun exercise to do at practice is to line up all the players along a sideline and have them do a farthest throw competition to see who's ball goes the farthest. Do this 3-5 times. Mixing a fun competition with technique work is a great way for players to learn!
What Player Could Be Doing Wrong:
If the ball isn't going to far and it is landing short of your teammate it is because you are releasing the ball out of your hands when your hands are far past your head. Release the ball when your hands are right above your head to increase distance on your throw in.
Coaches! If a players feet are not staying on the ground for their throw ins then take some duct tape and duct tape them to the ground... just kidding! Ask the player what they are doing wrong, have them repeat to you their feet are both not on the ground and sooner or later with more practice this will click for them.
