Soccer Workouts - How to Build Leg Muscles

Gotta love soccer workouts! Today we are learning how to build leg muscles!

There are lots of ways you can gain leg strength. Today I will show you two different exercises you can do in a few minutes before or after training. The exercises will also act as prehab by strengthen key muscles in your legs; like your ankles and knees. This will help limit injuries.

Make sure you warm up prior to these exercises.

Exercise 1:

Single leg jumps. Jump side to side on one leg for 30 seconds. Then switch. Rest for a minute and repeat three sets.

To increase the difficulty jump wider, higher and faster. As you do this exercise more and more you can increase sets and time per rep.

If you want to scare the neighbors you can do headers with a sound effect when you jump!

Exercise 2:

Single Leg Squats. Stand on one leg, squat down and come back up. Keep your non-squatting leg out in front of you and your chest up. Do this 10 times then switch legs. Rest one minute and repeat three sets. Don't rush this.

To increase the difficulty squat lower and hold it a second. As you do this exercise more and more you can increase sets and reps per set.

Bonus Tip:

If you are new to leg exercises then save the exercises for after training so you don't tire your legs out early in training. You need to fresh for actually playing the game!
