What to do Before a Game

Pre game preparation is a personal thing for each player. Each player prepares different. This video will be a suggestion of things to do. By all means though, do what is best for you.

Key Points:

1. Relax! If you have a 3pm game do not be walking around the mall all day while you wait for your game. Stay inside and watch movies, read or watch soccer. Take care of your body and it will thank you during the game!

2. Hydrate! Drink lots of water a day or two prior to your game and leading up to your game. Save the sports drinks like Gatorade for after the game. Don't drink soft drinks prior to the game either. Being properly hydrated will make a big difference in your performance. The gas in the car is like the water in your body. If your car runs out of gas, it stops. Same with your body, if it runs out of water it will stop too.

3. Take your mind off the game! Yes, you want to think about the game and mentally prepare but don't drive yourself crazy all day getting nervous about your game. Hopefully watching movies or reading will help take your mind off the game.

4. Mentally prepare! As game time gets closer its time to start thinking about the game more. Mentally visualize plays in your head. Imagine yourself playing your position, receiving a pass from a teammate and then playing a killer through pass. Visualize these types of plays in your head. Then when you do it in the game you will have been there before in your mind and it will make the play easier.

5. Sleep! Get a proper night's rest the night before your game! Take a nap mid day too if that helps you! I know it helped me! I love naps!!

What Player Could Be Doing Wrong:

If you are playing games and are tired and not prepared then you are not following the key points. Take care of your body. Preparation is a big part of the game.
