#22 Soccer Training Session

Today we are doing a 30 minute training session focusing on shooting!

Equipment Needed: As many balls as you have and one cone. Plus a partner or wall or fence or goal. 


0-5 minutes: 

Warm up, Jog and stretch doing all the normal exercises like high knees, side shuffle, etc. Throw in some leg kicks too!


5-10 minutes: 

Shooting Technique work. Work on shooting and landing on your kicking foot while keeping your ankle locked toe down all the way through on your follow through. For tips on shooting technique watch my Online Soccer Academy training video titled "How to Kick a Soccer Ball: How to Shoot a Soccer Ball with Power". This is just technique work, so don't rush it. 


10-15 minutes: 

Shooting technique work from a ball rolling out to you. Put the balls next to the goal. Have your partner play you out a soft ball and you run up from 15 yards away and hit it first time. Don't swing for power, swing for technique. You are not aiming for the corners or anything. Just hit it straight. All technique work. 


15-20 minutes: 

Line up all your balls in a line about 15 yards from goal. Set up a start cone 5 yards away from them. Sprint from start cone to your ball and shoot. Place shots in corner or hit for power. Your call. Jog back, then sprint and shoot again. After you hit all your balls set them up again. Repeat for 5 minutes. 


20-25 minutes: 

Shooting from distance speed of play. Pass the ball off the fence about 20 yards away from the goal. Or have your partner pass you the ball. As it comes to you pretend you are in a game, check your shoulders, realize you are 20 yards out with no pressure, take a good forward touch and launch a shot on target from distance. Be confident! Repeat for 5 minutes. 


25-30 minutes: 

Free juggling. Feet, thighs, head, you be creative. 

If you are working with a partner then you and your partner switch between sets. One person shoots 5 balls, then partner shoots 5. Then instead of going for 5 minutes per exercise, go 10 minutes total.

If you want to extend the training session time then add on time to any section you want extra work on. 

Make sure to finish with cool down and stretching. If you are up for it add on a few sit ups and push ups!
