How to Catch a Soccer Ball on your Foot

How to catch a soccer ball on your foot is a great soccer trick to do while juggling a soccer ball.

Catching a soccer ball on your foot is a fun way to challenge your skills and show off in front of your friends at practice. It's also a starting point for a lot of soccer tricks.

Key Points:

1. Curl foot back pointing toe at shin
2. Cushion the Ball, don't let it just hit you
3. Squeeze your toe to your shin to hold the ball

Equipment Needed: A soccer ball

Exercise Player Can Do:

Start off by practicing holding the ball on your foot by placing it in there. Once comfortable, toss the ball up in the air, let it bounce, then catch it on your foot. Once comfortable then toss the ball with no bounce and catch it or catch it while juggling. Repeat until you have mastered it and comfortable.

What Player Could Be Doing Wrong:

If the ball is just bouncing off your foot and going all over the place it is because it is just hitting you and you are not cushioning it in. Be gentle here, think of the egg.

Make sure you make it easier on yourself too when starting out, not harder. So don't have a high toss. Just do a little toss increasing the chance you will get it quicker.

Bonus Tip:

When just starting out wear tennis shoes instead of cleats and this makes it easier.
