How to do a Knee Pop

The knee pop is a fun way to challenge your skills and show off in front of your friends at practice.
It's also a combo point for a lot of soccer tricks.

Key Points:

1. Bring your heel back towards your hamstring, Point knee down at ground
2. Time ball coming down
3. Little drop of knee to get power
4. Hit ball when rising off the bounce, not when it is falling

Soccer Exercise Player Can Do:

Start off just doing the knee pop motion. When ready toss the ball in the air and then do the knee pop. Once comfortable do the knee pop while juggling. Repeat until you have mastered it or are tired.

What Player Could Be Doing Wrong:

If your bounce is going all over the place or it has too much power you are dropping your knee to much. The knee pop doesn't require much power, so use a little drop of the knee, not a powerful one.

If your timing is off and you can't quite hit the ball right you are probably hitting the ball when it is going down, not when it is bouncing up.

Bonus Tip:

Starting out it's easier to learn the knee pop on concrete versus grass because you get a more natural bounce. When attempting the knee pop on grass make sure you are not in thick, tall grass because that grass doesn't give the ball much bounce.
