Pics - Lima, Ohio OSA Soccer Camp

Jared Montz

Last week I was in Lima, Ohio.  We had an OSA Soccer Camp for the Shawnee High School Varsity and JV boys teams.  It was a lot of fun, the players had great attitudes and I even got to play neutral a bit in the scrimmages towards the end of the week!

Our goal at OSA Soccer Camps is to help players improve. Our mission is to inspire athletes that if you Believe in it® and back that up with hard work, anything in life is possible.

I'm confident we achieved our goal of helping players improve. That only happened because the players worked hard, stayed positive and wanted to improve.  Credit to them for making it happen!  They are Believe in it® Athletes.

Special thanks to Coach Ryan and Coach Pete for all their hard work and support in hosting an OSA Soccer Camp.  They care a lot about their players and program.  It showed in how they coached and I had a blast coaching with them.  Thanks guys! Your boys are lucky to have you.

Coach Pete even rocked his Shawnee High School jersey from the 90's on favorite jersey day. What a legend!

Have a great rest of your summer!  I look forward to seeing everyone again next summer!

Big thank you to Coach Brian Hacker and the Enid Soccer Club board for setting up our OSA Soccer Clinic in Enid!  My team and I appreciate you!

The players and I even made the local newspaper... in color!  Sweet!

Sydney Gets 219 Juggles - Believe in it® Athlete Spotlight

Jared Montz

Uploaded by Allison Schenk on 2014-11-15.

This week's Believe in it® Athlete spotlight is Sydney Schenk.  She juggled to save lives last year in our 4th annual OSA World Juggle-a-thon in April.  At the time her juggling record was 45 juggles.  Since then she has been practicing a lot and her record now is 219!

Sydney is a great example of how small improvements daily equal big improvements over time.

For this video Sydney said, "I got 199 juggles but the video was started a tad late so it looks like I only got about 192, but I was counting and so was my mom. :)".

Congrats Sydney!  I'm proud of you!  The purpose of OSA World Juggle-a-thon is to "Juggle to Save Lives, Juggle to Get Better" and you did just that!  You are awesome!

Emily "Bulldog" Beck will make a Comeback

Jared Montz

Emily "Bulldog" Beck is this week's Believe in it® Athlete spotlight.  Emily is a hardworking, passionate player and her "it" is to play for the Women's national team.

Emily plays for the U12 Epic Attack in Martinsburg, West Virginia.  A few weeks ago she broker her tibia.  Instead of sulking she continues to train her strong leg, follow her rehab plan and be a great teammate.  She attends all practices and games and now is the team statistician.

Good luck on your comeback Bulldog!  You have the right attitude and I'm confident you will do great!  You are a Believe in it® Athlete!

Andy Scores His 1st PK - Believe in it® Athlete Spotlight

Jared Montz

This week's Believe in it® Athlete spotlight is Andy Luc.  A few weeks ago he scored his first PK. Andy is a long time Believe in it® Athlete and he has been using the Online Soccer Academy for years.

This is how it went down in his own words.

"I was about to take a shot, but suddenly I got pushed and fouled. The ref called a PK.  At first, I thought coach was going to get someone else to take it since I have never taken a PK.

Then I heard him say, "Andy, do you want the PK?"  I was surprised, but I was confident.  I nodded yes.  I set up the ball near the PK mark and cleared my mind of all the noises around me.

I heard the bench, my varsity team-members and the fans yelling my name.  I focused on the goal and the ball.  I was thinking left or right or perhaps straight down the middle?

When I heard the whistle blow, I did my thing.  I jogged, then came up in a mid-sprint and looked right to fake the goalie.  He took the bait and dove.  I saw my opportunity and placed it near the middle.

As I saw the ball slowly go past the goal line I knew that I had scored my first PK.  I turned around and I literally saw the JV team jump on me.  The varsity team watched from the bench and cheered me on.  And on the other side the crowd went wild!"

Great story Andy and Congrats!  I'm proud of you!
